NORTH ADAMS STATE COLLEGE, NORTH ADAMS, MASS.

CLEP MANDATORY
FOR CLA« ^F <7A

by Marg

The College Level
Examination Program
(CLEP) is now mandatory for
all incoming freshmen.

Following an announcement
from Gov. Sargent that no new
teachers would be hired in th
State College System for 1972
73, the Orientation Committee
established last Tuesday tha
CLEP examinations woul<
help alleviate the problem o
overcrowding in freshma
courses.

The CLEP program i
geared to all college-leve
courses. Freshmer
examinations concern the 1
basic subjects of English
composition, history, science,
math, and humanities. If a
student completes any one of
these examinations suc-
cessfully he will receive credit
for that course. No student
will be penalized for failing an
exam. Conceivably, a student
could pass all five of the^
examinations and receive 30^**"
hours of credit. He would then*- a

become a Sophomore upon due in the Student Affairs
entrance to the college. Office in Eldridge Hall before

It is hoped that enough March 8.

We finally get the hang of going to classes

and sometimes class meetings.

For most of us, our most rewarding times were those spent with the children.

But a look at our Class History would
not be complete without Mr. Louis Cucci-
nello, class advisor. To him the Class of
1972 wishes to extend their heart-felt thanks
for his help and friendship.

Suddenly, before we realized, it was over with the swiftness that it had begun.

We. who were together for so long, were to part for even longer. Many of the ties

we made we would earn - in our memories until the end of our time. But in the sadness

-•f leaving, there is the spirit of a new beginning. And this endless river of knowledge,

| wought and dream, spreads out through these Berkshire Hills leaving behind an

Alma Mater, growing older, and growing golder in the summer setting sun.
